WooCommerce accessibility plugin vs UserWay

UserWay sells more than a floating accessibility menu. Its widget offers visitor adjustments and automated remediation, while its separate Monitor product scans and tracks issues. Compare the particular UserWay product you plan to use with the work your store needs.

Disclosure and method (September 28, 2026): AmazingPlugins publishes WooCommerce Accessibility Fixer. We reviewed UserWay’s product and help pages and the released Fixer 1.5.1 package. We have not tested the two products head to head on the same store. Feature descriptions below are from those sources, not performance measurements.

What UserWay documents

UserWay describes its widget as a mix of user controls and automated remediation. The company also offers Accessibility Monitor for scanning and tracking issues. Its help center lists further services, including audits and document work. Calling all of that an overlay that only changes font size misses much of the product line.

The widget and Monitor have different jobs. Ask what is included in the specific plan, which corrections happen automatically, which become tasks for a developer, and how the result is checked on WooCommerce checkout.

What our plugin actually does

WooCommerce Accessibility Fixer 1.5.1 contains nine free fixers aimed at selected WordPress and WooCommerce output. They cover areas such as skip links, focus indicators, landmarks, some labels, and error messages. Several run inline scripts or styles. There is no released Pro tier or catalog-wide scanner. The plugin does not measure text contrast or repair every checkout field.

A plugin can help with a known pattern. It cannot judge whether every product image has useful alternative text, whether a custom payment iframe works with a screen reader, or whether your complete checkout meets WCAG.

A useful trial on your store

Create a staging copy. With each candidate installed, complete a purchase using only a keyboard. Repeat with a screen reader. Check variation selection, cart updates, coupon errors, address fields, payment, and the confirmation page. Record barriers that remain, then check whether the vendor’s report includes them. A tool that finds an issue and a tool that fixes it are doing different work.

The W3C warns that automated tools cannot determine accessibility on their own. Judge the actual page and interaction, not a dashboard score.

How to decide

UserWay may fit if you want a widget plus monitoring or services. Our plugin may fit if you want a small set of WooCommerce-focused fixes you can inspect inside WordPress. Both may leave work for your developer. Ask each vendor to show the checkout behavior you need, then verify it on your own store.
